Coronation Street star looks unrecognisable as he takes on new role

A well-known Corrie star looks completely different after sitting in hair and makeup ahead of a panto performance.

While the 54-year-old is normally known for his silver locks, Tristan Gemmill is miles away from his cobbles character as he wears a long, dark wig to play

Tristan, who played Tracey Barlow's ex Robert Preston, is starring in Robin Hood, which is currently enjoying a run in Nottingham's Theatre Royal.

Robert was killed on Christmas Day 2019, after he was accidentally shot by Derek Milligan during an incident at the Rovers.

Tristan announced his was leaving Corrie before the shock scenes aired.

He tweeted at the time: "Folks, I just wanted to let you know that the time has come for me to hang up the chef's gear and head for pastures new.

"There is still a lot of drama & shenanigans to come for Robert but I will be leaving @itvcorrie later in the year."

Tristan took over the role of the Bistro owner 2015, which was previously played by Julian Kay from 1996 to 2003.

He is now sharing a stage with former Stars in their Eyes host Matthew Kelly, West End star Jodie Prenger, and former X Factor winner Matt Terry in the city's pantomime, Robin Hood.

Tristan has now shared a look at his role as The Sheriff of Nottingham in a selfie posted to his Instagram page.

Posing with a long brown wig, beard, and dramatic eye make-up, Tristan said: "The Sheriff is in the house!!"

Fans have been quick to comment on the transformation.
