Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has spoken about her big week after becoming a first-time grandmother.
Speaking at the Pride of Manchester, event host Kym says her daughter Emilie Cunliffe has chosen a name but they’re keeping it under wraps for now.
Wearing a strapless red gown, the 42-year-old looked super glam as she walked the red carpet at The Principal Hotel.
“Emilie is doing great. She has been an absolute warrior.
“It feels like the royal baby, and we beat her as well,” she joked.
And she said being Emilie’s co-birthing partner, was “amazing.”
Emilie, a 22-year-old makeup artist, and her partner Mikey welcomed their baby boy on Friday night and they both shared a photo of their son's tiny hand on Instagram the following day to announce the happy news.
Emilie said: "Welcome to the world my precious baby boy.
"You have filled a space in my heart that I never even knew was there, and you’ve managed to take over the whole of it.”
Kym, who plays Michelle Connor in Corrie, said on her social media: “Last night was a night I will never forget. I became a ‘Loli’ for the first time!!! My beautiful daughter was an absolute warrior and her partner and I were the best birthing team we could be!!!
“I was so honoured to have been a part of bringing him into the world. “My beautiful grandson, I love you I will always love you and I promise to help guide you through life as best I can.”
And the smitten ‘Loli’ said on Twitter: “Did I mention I am in love with my grandson?”
Kym was speaking ahead of hosting the very first Pride of Manchester Awards at the Prinicpal Manchester.
The awards, brought to you by the Pride of Britain team, celebrates the community heroes from across the region.
