Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd describes filming dramatic court scenes in Myra Hindley's cell

Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has opened up about his character David Platt being back behind bars.

Jack filmed court scenes, as his character faces prison for stealing £80,000 from his own grandmother, at Chester Crown Court.

Previously named Chester Assizes, it was here that Ian Brady and Myra Hindley were each sentenced to life imprisonment here at the end of the Moors Murders trial in 1966.

“It's the same court Myra Hindley was tried, I was in her cell,” he told us.

"It was interesting."

David was previously behind bars in a young offender institution for four months after going on a wrecking spree on Coronation Street in 2008.

After pushing his mum Gail downstairs and smashing up vehicles and windows on the street and attacking Ken Barlow.

Troubled dad-of-two David is locked up for four months for stealing from gran Audrey Roberts following the plan hatched by his older brother Nick Tilsley.

On Wednesday Nick told David he planned to take full responsibility for the stolen money.

But when when the brother’s appear in court Nick went back on his word and blamed his past brain injury for his actions, accusing David of being the mastermind behind the theft.

Asked how the time behind bars will effect Jack’s tanned complexion, the 31-year-old laughed: “A lot of yard time, that's what I've been doing.

"They've put makeup on me before and it makes me look grey. So I'll just leave it."

Jack, who joined the soap when he was just 12 in 2000, says he'd like David's time inside to go smoothly.

But he's enjoying playing out the tempestuous relationship with Nick, played by Ben Price.

"I'd like it to continue so that it's a Cain and Abel story. That's the beauty of the Platts. They can switch."
