Coronation Street star Jack James Ryan confirms Jacob's fate on ITV soap

Coronation Street star Jack James Ryan has confirmed that his character Jacob Hay has left the soap, but hinted he could return in the future.

The actor has been playing bad boy Jacob for several weeks, as he groomed Simon Barlow into becoming part of the drug dealing operation.

On Friday's show Jacob was picked up by drug lord Harvey and when Simon went to meet Jacob as planned, Harvey turned up instead.

When Simon asked where Jacob was Harvey said: "We went for a little drive and I dropped him off at the hospital after."

Following the episode Jack confirmed he had left the soap for the meantime, but hinted he could be back in the future.

Taking to Twitter Jack said: "& thats Jacob Hay over and out (heartbreak emoji)

"I can’t thank the fans enough for welcoming me into the # corrie fam with open arms.

"This has honestly been an absolute dream come true for me!"

Jack then appeared to suggest he could return in the future as he said: "Who knows what’s next for Jacob? (side eyes emoji)

"For now, stick with us at @ itvcorrie to see how this plays out."

And his followers and Corrie co-stars were quick to comment on his tweet.

Jane Danson said: "I hope its not- so much more to explore! You have a special talent Jack and deserve huge success."

Will Mellor said: "You were great! A very talented boy."

Sally Ann Matthews said: "You’ve been absolutely brilliant. Quite sure I’ll see you on my telly very soon! x"

And Millie Gibson said: "You’ll be back. Kelly certainly isn’t letting go of Jacob!"
