Elle scored an A* in Drama - the highest possible grade - and two As in her A Level subjects of French and Business.

And her loved ones were quick to praise the star for her hard work in her studies and the soap.

Tony Maudsley, who plays undertaker George Shuttleworth on Corrie said: "Clever CLEVER girl!!!! Congratulations Elle!!!!", while Maximus Evans who plays baddie Corey Brent said: "Brilliant! Congratulations Elle."

Fans were similarly full of praise, as one said: "Wow you aced it, well done! Especially with all the work you've done on screen, this is amazing!"

A second added: "Congratulations Elle for the hard work you put in to get results well done."

While a third said simply: "Smashed it".

Elle went on to share a tweet from the official Coronation Street account with video of Aadi Alahan star Adam Hussain, in which soap bosses have encouraged young fans to share their results and praised students for being "brilliant".

In the video, Adam says: "Everyone here at Coronation Street wants to give a huge congratulations to anyone getting their A Level results today, we really do hope you got the results you wanted.

"And if you didn't, please don't worry about it, there's plenty of other options out there and we at Corrie think you're brilliant. Leave a comment below and we'll give you a follow."

Elle first joined Coronation Street in 2010 as Amy, daughter of Tracy Barlow and Steve McDonald, and has grown up on the show.

The 18-year-old has had massive storylines, including a teen pregnancy and won Best Young Actor at the British Soap Awards in 2017.

Speaking earlier this year Elle said: “It is such a privilege.

“I have grown up on the show, you almost learn as you go. It almost doesn’t feel like a job – people say I’ve worked half my life but it is good fun.”
