Coronation Street star Dolly-Rose Campbell praised as she showcases impressive new skill

Coronation Street star Dolly-Rose Campbell has been praised following powerful scenes on the ITV soap.

Dolly-Rose has played Gemma Winter in the soap since 2014 and has welcomed quadruplets with boyfriend, Chesney Brown.

But the couple have been having a difficult time with son Aled, who they discovered early last year suffered profound deafness - reports the Manchester Evening News.

Recently viewers have seen Gemma and Chesney torn over whether to have an implant operation.

In the meantime, the mum-of-four has been keen to learn sign language while Chesney, who is also dad to son Joseph, is struggling to pick up BSL.

In scenes aired last week, Corrie fans saw a confident Gemma communicate with Freda Burgess and a BSL teacher called Charlie.

The soap has hired deaf actress Vilma Jackson, who has been playing the role of Charlie and whose aim is to help Gemma and Chesney learn about their son's deafness.

Freda introduces Charlie to the couple and this is when Chesney admits he’s struggling with sign language and hopes Aled’s operation will make things easier.

But Gemma was able to show off her new signing skills, wowing fans in the process.

Many took to social media to praise Dolly-Rose for learning BSL and the soap for portraying the storyline.

One said: "#corrie Good on @dollycampbell_ for learning the sign language."

Another said: "I just want to say well done to #Corrie for the sign language scene. Absolutely amazing. It's so lovely to see a soap being so inclusive. I'd love to learn all the sign language that Freda and Gemma and the new lady was doing."
