Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank sparks concern as he tweets 'I've had enough'

Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank penned a cryptic tweet over the weekend - sparking concern among his fans.

The actor, who plays vicar Billy Mayhew on the cobbles, worried his followers when he took to the micro-blogging site to reveal that he "had enough."

The 41-year-old did not elaborate on what led to his worrying message but was inundated with supportive tweets from his hoards of fans.

Several sent him snaps of things that cheer them up - such as pet photos and snaps of baking achievements - in a bid to make the star smile.

Daniel's message sharing that he was low received over 340 replies - which did not go unnoticed by the Release star.

After seeing the kinds notes, he then responded on Monday: "Thanks for all of your lovely messages.

"They’ve restored my faith in humanity hugely. Yesterday was particularly testing but today is a new day. Big love to you all."

Daniel recently shared with the Mirror how coming out as gay had an effect on his career,

He decided to be open about his sexuality after appearing in 1998 hit movie Shakespeare in Love.

Reflecting on coming out in the 1990s, he said: “I pretend for a living, I didn’t want to pretend in my private life. When you spend your life on screen, it’s important to hold on to the bits that are real.

“Who I am in my real life should bear no relevance to what I play on screen.”

He added: “I came out publicly just after Shakespeare in Love was released, so I would have been 18.

“I remember my management in Los Angeles trying to convince me not to come out because they said it would affect work – and it did.

“I stopped being screen-tested for the heterosexual male leads and I
was either the gay best friend or the character parts.

“It was more in America than in Britain, but it was still very prevalent.”

When Daniel joined Coronation Street as kind-hearted Billy in 2014 there was a backlash from some traditional Christian groups.

Daniel also received some homophobic abuse on Twitter in the past.
