Coronation Street star cryptically responds to guesses she's Firework on The Masked Singer

A Coronation Street star has cryptically responded to suggestions she is taking part in The Masked Singer.

The whacky ITV show returned over the weekend with another bunch of famous faces hiding behind eccentric costumes while belting out a tune and giving clues.

So far, Heather Small was unmasked first as Chandelier and then Loose Women star Gloria Hunniford was disguised behind Snow Leopard.

The guesses as to who is behind the remaining characters - including Robobunny, Poodle, and Doughnuts - have been coming in thick and fast.

Firework was among the first characters to perform on Saturday night with a rendition of Jessie J track, Domino.

But it was one clue in particular that had viewers guessing the identity to be Sally Carman, who plays Corrie's Abi Franklin.

"I light up the street with a different kind of flash," the last clue said.

And the ITV soap actress has handed out a few responses on Twitter.

@76_Debs tweeted: "@sallycarman1 is firework!! #MaskedSinger," to which Sally replied with: "Ooooh??" and a disguised face emoji.

Sally didn't confirm or deny that she is Firework (ITV)

@machelrachel wrote: "Firework is DEFINITELY Abi off of Corrie @sallycarman1 @MaskedSingerUK."

But the Corrie star kept her response a little more ambiguous, simply posting a laughing face emoji and a detective emoji.

However, there are quite a few names floating around for Firework.

Strictly Come Dancing's Janette Manrara has popped up, as has singer LuLu, and Kerry Katona.

But the soap theme does continue.

@TenBaylorson said: "Firework - Kym Marsh #MaskedSinger #MaskedSingerUK."

And @Steph_Zaplee added: "Firework has gotta be Michelle Keegan #MaskedSinger."

Michelle and Kym previously starred in the ITV soap while Antony is still appearing as Shaun Tully.
