Coronation Street star confirms exit from soap having already filmed last scenes

A Coronation Street star has confirmed their exit from the soap and has already filmed their last scenes.

Lynn Kennedy is leaving the ITV show following her short stint as Karen Rutherford.

She made her first appearance on screen back in March of this year as her character warned Daisy Midgley about her stalker brother Justin Ruhterford.

Karen told the barmaid the he had shown concerning signs.

It all took a dark turn when Justin attempted to douse Daisy with acid on her wedding day but friend Ryan Connor jumped in to save her.

Ryan ended up being hit by the acid and he has been struggling with the long term effects of what happened.

Karen made a return to screens ahead of Justin's acid attack trial, where she caused a stir.

Actress Lynn has confirmed the end for Karen as she took to Instagram to share a back stage snap.

She said: "And just like that, Karen's off. Bye @coronationstreet it's been amazing."

Karen was up to no good in her recent scenes as she devised a cunning plan to help her brother.

She visited Daisy and her fiancé Daniel in Rovers Return, where she gave her sympathies for what her brother did.

However, it was all a façade in an effort to help her sibling's case.

Karen was able to gather information about Daisy's history of manipulating men after she won her trust by apologising for Justin's actions.

She then overheard a heated argument in the pub where Carla Connor defended Ryan as she fumed over how Daisy broke up him and his girlfriend Alya Nazir.

Two years ago, Ryan cheated with Daisy after she told lies to end his relationship with Alya, before making sure Alya knew of the affair and then ending things shortly after.

Following the revelation, Karen went to tell Justin's lawyer about the history in order to help his court case.

Justin showed no remorse for the crime and even tried to set up Ryan as if he was planning to use it, leaving Ryan and Daisy horrified.

But the jury realised Justin's lies, and during Monday's episode they gave their verdict.

As the guilty verdict came in, Justin looked stunned as Ryan, Daisy and the others cheered with relief.

Justin was led away by officers and told he would be sentenced at a later date, while it's not known if Justin will feature in any more scenes.
