Coronation Street star Colson Smith tries out his flash new car while in isolation

Corrie favourite Colson Smith is in good company while spending time in isolation during the coronavirus outbreak - his new set of wheels.

Colson, who plays Craig Tinker in the ITV soap, has treated himself to a new BMW, and he gave fans a glimpse of the bright blue motor on Instagram.

He told his followers that he planned to spend the day sitting in the vehicle and testing out the settings.

The actor also shared a photo that showed off his new slimline figure after he embarked on a health kick along with his soap character.

"Isolation inspiration station," he captioned the snap.

Colson recently revealed his weight loss at The Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) Awards in London.

On screen his police officer character Craig has taken up running after finding that he was out of breath while chasing shoplifters.

Craig told his friends that he was going to make an effort to get healthier after being bullied at work.

Colson, 21, has played Craig the son of Beth Sutherland in Coronation Street since 2011.

Back in 2016 he shed three and a half stone in weight with Ultimate Performance Fitness in Manchester and he said at the time "I feel like an athlete."

Colson's storylines include supporting his pal Faye Windass through her pregnancy at the age of 12.

He rescued Bethany Platt after he discovered his girlfriend Kayla Westbrook was the daughter of his depraved former boss Neil Clifton, who was jailed for raping Bethany after being introduced to her by vile grooming gang leader Nathan Curtis.

In 2018 it was revealed that he had Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which is an anxiety disorder where people feel the need to check, perform routines or have certain thoughts repeatedly.

The catalyst for the disorder in his character was getting a time wrong while giving evidence at Nathan's trial.
