Coronation Street star Colson Smith looks 'absolutely mega' after huge weight-loss

Coronation Street star Colson Smith has shown off his slimmer figure after saying he feels like he has lost ten stone during the UK lockdown.

The 21-year-old actor, who plays Craig Tinker in the ITV soap, joked he will need a fat suit when he returns to the cobbles.

With the Corrie set shut for several weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic, Colson has been using his time to embark on a gruelling fitness regime.

He has been sharing pictures of his toned-down figure on Instagram and revealed he was off for a morning run before his first day back on set.

Colson's dramatic weight loss has sparked Corrie fans to question how producers will deal with continuity as his character Craig takes on a different dynamic.

In his pic on Instagram, Colson is seen in black shorts and t-shirt as he takes a selfie in the mirror.

He captioned the snap with: "Starting the morning with a run. Quarantine daily run."

He added: "First day back at work. Like a kid at Christmas."

Colson shared the secret to his dramatic turnaround with his body shape in a video that he posted on social media last week.

In it, the actor can be seen working hard, swinging kettlebells above his head, doing curls with heavy dumbbells and slamming a weighted ball on the floor.

Andy Whyment, who plays Kirk Sutherland in Corrie, commented: "Looking absolutely mega pal well done."

Speaking on his podcast, Colson revealed that he might have to employ a fat suit to help his character Craig to keep his shape.

Colson said: "We are in direct continuity, but I've almost lost about ten stone since we left work so I'm not sure that [my hair] is going to be the biggest of their issues.

"I might be wearing a wig and a fat suit when we go back. Now we go to a purple shampoo, which almost makes it a platinum sort of colour, which basically takes the ginger pigment out.

"So the yellow-ness will go, and I will have a head of blonde hair, which I technically do now."
