Coronation Street star Charlie de Melo is unrecognisable with new shaven-headed makeover

Coronation Street star Charlie de Melo has stunned fans with a shaven-headed makeover.

The actor, who plays solicitor Imran Habeeb in Corrie, usually sports a thick mane of floppy hair, but he's looking strikingly different after having a radical lockdown haircut.

Charlie's co-stars told him he was unrecognisable after showcasing his new look while taking his dog for a walk.

Charlie smiled for the camera next to his golden retriever in a snap posted on his Instagram.

"Government Sanctioned Walkies," he explained.

"Sorry but that isn’t you. Imposter x" messaged Lucy Fallon, who played Bethany Platt.

And Ryan Clayton, who played Josh Tucker in the soap, said: "Gonna be Corrie’s Answer to Phil Mitchell when you go back."

The compliments came pouring in for Charlie's new look.

One follower told him: "Actually think it somehow suits you Charles."

"I mean, you are still devilishly handsome," said another.

"My goodness you look so different but so much more handsome and younger!!" another follower praised.

"The hair! Love it!" exclaimed another.

Charlie has played solicitor Imran Habeeb on Coronation Street since November 2017.

The soap, based at Trafford Wharf, has suspended filming in the light of the coronavirus outbreak and episodes are being rationed to keep the show on our screens for as long as possible.

Corrie is now being screened on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for half an hour instead of screening six half hour episodes in double bills.
