Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley 'in talks' for Strictly Come Dancing 2019

Catherine Tyldesley is said to be in talks to sign up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The Coronation Street star, 35, is set to be 2019’s soap contestant on the BBC One flagship series, despite admitting in the past she has “two left feet”.

The actress, who played Eva Price in the soap until she left the Cobbles last year, is believed to be in talks with producers of the show, which usually starts in September.

On today's Lorraine, she was hailed as the "perfect contestant" for the show, after years of criticism over actresses with prior dance training taking part.

She won’t be the first Corrie star to set foot on the famous dancefloor - she will follow in the footsteps of Georgia May Foote and Tina O'Brien.

Cath has recently spoken of her love of the show but admitted that she doesn’t have any confidence on the dancefloor.

She told Hello! Magazine : "I'm such a fan. At some point I would love to do it.

"I can't dance and have never had the confidence - I usually only hit the dance floor after a couple of drinks.

"But it's something I've always wanted to learn. It's an amazing skill to have. So I might pop up at some point."

It's not the first time she has been linked to the show - last year Good Morning Britain asked whether she would ever take part and she said "never say never".

Cath previously appeared on the show as a star guest alongside host Claudia Winkleman to read out terms and conditions.

Cath would join already confirmed contestants Chris Evans and talk show host Alan Carr.
