Coronation Street star Bhavna Limbachia rushed to hospital after horror hand injury

Coronation Street actress Bhavna Limbachia, 39, shared a snap from hospital after requiring medical treatment for a nasty injury.

The star, best known for playing Rana Habeeb for three years on the ITV soap, took to social media earlier this week to let her fans know she was having a scan on her thumb after suffering an unknown injury.

Bhavna told her social media followers on Wednesday: "Got a lot of movement back in my thumb but still not fully healed. I’m keeping everything crossed to avoid surgery."

The former soap didn't reveal how she sustained the injury to her thumb when sharing the picture taken in hospital to her Instagram Stories.

Preston-born Bhavna first appeared on the cobbled streets of Weatherfield in 2016, playing Zeedan Nazir's love interest Rana for three years before being killed off in March 2019.

Prior to her exit from the ITV soap, Bhavna won praise from the LGBT+ community for her portrayal of the street's first muslim lesbian character and how Rana's relationships with lover Kate Connor, played by Faye Brookes, was handled.

Bhavna previously admitted it was her choice to bid farewell to Corrie and explained why she felt death was the only fitting way for her character to exit the soap.

"Kate and Rana had fought so hard to be together and they had been through thick and thin together," Bhavna told The Sun.

"I believe their love was so pure as two souls that there was no way that Rana was just going to have a change of heart, hop in a cab and leave.

"I felt that if they were to be separated, they had to be torn apart and it couldn’t have been their decision. The only way to go was if Rana were to die. Rana would never leave Kate, ever."

The Citizen Khan actress went on to appear in the fourth season of Sky comedy Brassic, which also stars fellow former Corrie star Michelle Keegan, and enjoyed stints on BBC show Inside No 9 and Ridley.

Away from her career, Bhavna is happily married to actor Darren Kuppan after the pair tied the knot in July 2018 at Thornton Manor in a British and Indian ceremony.

Darren has also appeared on Corrie but made his cameo as a paramedic several years before Bhavna joined the cast of the ITV soap.

He has also popped up on episodes of Emmerdale, Britannia High and Johnny Vegas' sitcom Home from Home.

Bhavna announced their marriage on Instagram and celebrated her nuptials by sharing two stunning snaps from her special day with fans online.
