Coronation Street actor Ben Price has had a bit of a nightmare at home – and it all started with a mouse. The 53-year-old, best known for playing Nick Tilsley on the soap, shared the chaotic tale on his On The Sofa podcast, which he co-hosts with fellow Corrie stars Jack P Shepherd and Colson Smith.
It all kicked off when Ben decided to give the cooker a clean ahead of a repair job. In the process, he discovered a dead mouse and, naturally, thought he’d better check the loft for any more unwanted guests. But that’s when things took a turn – quite literally, reported Metro.co.uk.
Ben explained that while coming back down from the loft, he lost his footing and put his leg straight through the ceiling. Just to make matters worse, that leg was already “dead” from a jiu-jitsu injury. “I put my foot straight through. I’ve fallen through the ceiling, but my leg’s dead, so I can’t pick it back up!” he said, still clearly in disbelief.
At first, he thought it was just a minor hole – a little foot-shaped dent in the plaster. But when he peeked through the gap, he realised it was far worse. “There was not one bit – the shower, the loo, the tiles, the floor – that wasn’t covered. It was utterly covered. The whole part of the ceiling had fallen down.”
As if the ceiling collapsing wasn’t bad enough, he then had to break the news to his wife, who was just about to hop in the shower. And her reaction? Well, let’s just say she didn’t exactly share his panic. Instead, she took it as a sign it might be time for a full bathroom renovation. “She sees this as an opportunity for a whole new bathroom,” Ben said, sounding both amused and slightly horrified.
While his home life might be a bit of a mess right now, things have been equally dramatic for Ben’s character on Coronation Street. Nick has found himself in hot water after getting involved with his partner Leanne’s sister, Toyah, all while Leanne was tangled up in a cult. The fallout’s been messy, to say the least, with Leanne left heartbroken and furious.
Away from the drama, Ben’s been backing his mate and podcast co-host Jack P Shepherd, who recently triumphed on Celebrity Big Brother. At least something’s gone right this year!
