Coronation Street spoilers: Yasmeen suffers tragic setback in devastating scenes tonight

Yasmeen Nazir will be refused bail tonight on Coronation Street in heartbreaking scenes.

Despite Imran's best efforts, Yasmeen (Shelley King) will remain behind bars until her trial.

This comes after her situation became even more dire last week after her vile husband Geoff Metcalfe lied to police about what really happened.

Geoff backed wife Yasmeen into a corner, threatening her as he wielded a knife and she was forced to defend herself.

Grabbing a bottle of wine from the side, Yasmeen slammed it into his head before stabbing the glass shards into his neck.

Horrified by what she had done, Yasmeen phoned 999 and believed she had killed her husband.

However Geoff survived and, after waking up, spoke to the police and unsurprisingly didn't jump to her defence.

Instead, vile Geoff lied to the police by saying that Yasmeen attacked him unprovoked.

He went one step further by suggesting that Yasmeen had been secretly abusive towards him for months, neglecting to tell them it was actually the other way round.

Yet there will be some hope in the future for Yasmeen as Tim's partner Sally begins to believe her instead of Geoff.

Boss Iain MacLeod told Mirror Online and other news outlets last week: "It sucks in loads of characters – Alya and Sally are very pivotal.

"She has never been Geoff’s biggest fan and she is among the first to have seen what goes on behind closed doors – this provides huge material for her and Tim.

"Tim has been gaslighted since birth so he and Sally are on separate sides and there are tensions that are created as they have polar opposite views."

*Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV
