Coronation Street spoilers for next week - killer returns and spurned ex's brutal blackmail

The return of a certain psychotic killer will spark horror from the Weatherfield residents - thankfully, this murderer is just a pile of ashes.

Meanwhile, a spurned ex plots her revenge after her lover says that he... well, doesn't love her.

Facing his parents, she decides to blackmail them in order to ensure that she gets what she wants.

Elsewhere, one teen begs another young resident to try and remember that fateful night.

Here's what's coming up on Coronation Street next week...

Spurned Grace blackmails Bailey family

Grace Vickers will take revenge against Michael after he dumps her and admits he doesn't love her.

Grace, played by Kate Spencer, first came into Michael's life in 2019 when she tricked him into thinking that the little girl she had been looking after for her job was their daughter.

Michael later discovered the truth when Grace announced that she and Tiana were moving abroad and he abducted the little girl so they would miss their flight.

He was arrested by the police and it was subsequently revealed that Grace was Tiana's nanny and that he wasn't Tiana's dad.

After Grace was jailed for the deception, she later got in contact with Michael to tell him that she was pregnant with his baby.

Despite initially not believing her claims, Michael allowed Grace back into his life and she gave birth to baby Glory.

But things get awkward next week after Ed shows Grace the house he and Aggie bought up at auction, which they are planning to do up.

Grace mentions that she wants to set up a home with Michael and Glory, to which Ed responds that he will help out with finance and advice.

Michael, however, is clearly not too excited about the prospect and fakes enthusiasm.

This doesn't go unnoticed by Grace, who is disappointed by his reluctance and reveals she's been offered a job in Hull and wants to take it.

But Michael is keen to keep Grace and Glory nearby and suggests holding off on a house until his babygrow business is established.

When Grace offers to work with him, Michael begins to regret his remarks and later his uncle Ronnie tells him to come clean to Grace about his true feelings.

Dreading the fallout, Michael admits to Grace that he doesn't love her and she begins to angrily pack her bags.

Ed and Aggie return home and the nurse quickly blocks the door to stop Grace from fleeing to Hull with her grandchild.

Grace then demands that she will only stay in Weatherfield if the Bailey's give her the house that they are renovating as she can no longer stay at No 3.

Reluctantly, Ed and Aggie agree to her demands as they no they have no choice if they want to keep Glory in Michael's life...

Tyrone hides feelings for Fiz

Tyrone Dobbs is stuck in between a rock and a hard place as he desperately attempts to hide his feelings for his ex Fiz.

The car mechanic, played by Alan Halsall, has been at odds with Fiz ever since he dumped her for Alina, with the pair fighting over custody of their two children.

But in the wake of Hope, who is not Tyrone's biological daughter, setting fire to his flat with Alina, Tyrone and Fiz have grown closer.

Alina ended up losing the baby and Fiz initially tried to claim responsibility, but Tyrone went to the police and told them the truth.

Yet their coming together to tackle Hope's issues seems to have brought the pair together again and Tyrone is left guilt-ridden over his feelings - particularly after his accidental proposal to Alina.

Fiz and Tyrone continue to be awkward around one another as they meet the youth justice officer next week.

However, Alina's friend Emma begins to get suspicious about the two when she spots them in deep discussion.

Tyrone is unsure as to what Emma has overheard and he ends up blathering an excuse that he and Fiz were simply speaking about childcare.

Clearly attempting to assuage his guilt, Tyrone gifts Alina with the expensive ring she wanted.

Alina is thrilled with the diamond, but Emma is unsure whether Tyrone is being genuine or if the gesture is simply for her benefit...

It comes as Tyrone drops a bombshell on Fiz and Evelyn on Friday that he is engaged to Alina.

At court for Hope's sentencing, Evelyn slams Tyrone for getting engaged by accident and Fiz is upset that she believed he was putting his family first.

Later, Tyrone calls in at No 9 as he blames himself for wrecking everyone's lives and bursts into tears.

Fiz is taken aback and the pair end up opening up a prosecco...

Todd confronted by the ashes of Pat Phelan

After being rejected by much of the street following his schemes to split Billy Mayhew and Paul Foreman being exposed, Todd Grimshaw found a safe haven with his boss and funeral parlour owner George Shuttleworth.

However, Todd gets a shock at work next week when he makes a discovery in the parlour.

On Friday (August 27), Todd decides to repay George for his helping him when he was at rock bottom and does a clearout of the work premises.

Despite the nice gesture, George is uneasy about Todd taking on the chore.

The reason for George's concern becomes clear when a furious Todd emerges from the storeroom clutching a sinister finding.

Todd has found his murderous step-father Pat Phelan's ashes and demands to know what they're doing there.

Fans will remember Pat Phelan's reign of terror on the soap, which in his first stint from 2013 to 2014 saw him blackmail Owen Armstrong and Gary Windass before coercing Anna Windass into sex.

His second stint from 2016 onwards saw his villainy reach new heights after he got in a relationship with and later married Todd's mum Eileen Grimshaw.

Phelan was responsible for numerous crimes, including killing Michael Rodwell (Les Dennis), Andy Carver, and Luke Britton.

He also framed Anna for attacking Seb Franklin and later tried to kill daughter Nicola Rubinstein and Michelle Connor before finally being killed by Anna in 2018.

The character was last seen as his body was taken away in an ambulance following the climax of his reign of terror.

Simon begs Nina to remember Seb attack in bid to save Kelly

Simon Barlow begs Nina Lucas to help save Kelly Neelan from prison.

Roy's niece Nina has been forever changed by the brutal hate crime attack that left her badly beaten and claimed the life of her beloved boyfriend Seb Franklin.

Now times are set to get harder as teens Corey Brent and Kelly Neelan go on trial for the murder of Seb, but Nina still struggles to remember the attack despite being convinced of their guilt.

Next week it becomes clear to Kelly's foster father and lawyer Imran Habeeb that Corey has an extensive legal team at his disposal, led by Imran's ex-wife Sabeen.

It also becomes clear that Corey will be calling footballer Tommy Orpington as a character witness, with Sabeen making clear that Kelly will struggle to be acquitted at the trial.

Sabeen suggests to Imran that they both ask the court for the ages of Corey and Kelly to be taken into account to preserve their anonymity, which infuriates Seb's mum Abi and her partner Kevin Webster when they hear the news.

However, Imran's partner Toyah Battersby is dismayed when she discovers Corey and Kelly's identities have been leaked on a Tommy Orpington fansite.

It becomes clear that Kevin's son Jack posted their identities and Toyah is shocked when Imran makes clear that he will use this to delay and affect the trial in Kelly's favour.

At the pre-trial review, Imran clashes with Sabeen as it becomes clear that new evidence about blood spatters on Kelly's trainers from the attack have emerged.

The pair also discovered that a manslaughter charge may be offered and with it carries a reduced sentence.

Kelly is seen languishing in prison when she gets a visit from friend Simon Barlow and Kelly makes clear that she is petrified she will spend life in prison.

As a result, Simon marches to Roy's Cafe and begs traumatised Nina to remember what happened as she remains Kelly's only hope.

Nina's uncle Roy Cropper is furious by Simon's request and ejects him from the cafe.

A shaken Nina is clearly affected by Simon's words.

Could she hold the key to securing Kelly's freedom?
