Corrie spoilers as identity of the body in the canal is revealed and hospital prepares to switch off Oliver's life support

Leanne Battersby receives devastating news on next week's Coronation Street.

A doctor breaks the news that they’ve had to up her son Oliver’s sedation again as his seizures are beyond their control.

Leanne and Oliver's dad Steve McDonald are told that life support is the only thing keeping their three-year-old alive.

While her sister Toyah and boyfriend Imran Habeeb are overjoyed at being recommended to a fostering panel.

Then their emotion turns to sadness when Leanne's partner Nick Tilsley calls from the hospital with Oliver's news.

However Leanne declares that she’ll do whatever it takes and will never give up on her son.

Having done some research on the Internet, Nick tells a thrilled Leanne about a hospital in Germany where they can treat people with Oliver’s condition.

Toyah's joy turns to sadness (ITV)

But their hope is short lived when their consultant in Weatherfield says it's been confirmed that Oliver will never be able to breathe unaided and the time has come to talk about switching off his life support.

Leanne accuses them of giving up on Oliver and announces that she’s found a hospital in Germany that will be able to treat him.

She and Steve FaceTime a doctor in Germany but Steve is concerned when Leanne plays down the severity of Oliver’s case.

Elsewhere on Corrie it's revealed that a body found in the canal was Kel Hinchley.

While his ex Bernie Winter is delighted that the child abuser is gone, Billy Mayhew finds her son Paul Foreman drinking in Victoria Gardens as he struggles with the news.

When Paul asserts that he’s not surprised Kel was murdered, the officer points out that he never said he was.
