A blast from Rita Tanner's past and another missing character make a return on Coronation Street next week.
Rita is stunned when Sharon Bentley shows up at the Kabin and reveals that it was her who nominated Rita for the Golden Heart Award for her fostering skills and to prove how sorry she is for the way she treated her all those years ago.
Sharon is Rita's foster daughter and has not been seen on the Corrie cobbles since 1999 after she and Rita fell out over Sharon's attempt to sell the Kabin after it was gifted to her.
While surprised to see her, Rita and Gemma listen as Sharon reveals that she had cancer and Ian ran off with a woman he met on the internet.
Rita then introduces Sharon to Jenny, explaining that she fostered Jenny too, but feathers are set to be ruffled.
Jenny later convinces Gemma that Sharon can’t be trusted and clearly intends to fleece Rita.
So when Sharon informs Jenny and Gemma that Rita missed out on the award, they make it clear to Sharon they won’t let her hurt Rita and she must sling her hook.
But Rita wants to give Sharon a chance and calls for peace talks among the trio.
And when Sharon tearfully reveals that her brother Wayne died and she’s terribly lonely, Rita suggests she moves in with her for a few weeks.
Elsewhere in Weatherfield, it's sentencing day for Faye Windass and brother Gary.
Affairs of the heart are making it much more difficult a n emotional Faye tells Craig it is best that they call their relationship short after she discovered he was willing to give up his job in the police force.
The teen is facing time in prison after bashing Adam Barlow over the head in a case of mistaken identity at Christmas.
While Gary is given eight months for perverting the course of justice, he's free to go.
But what will happen to Faye?
Another return is also on the cards as Izzy Armstrong.
The character was last seen almost a year ago but reappears when Gary calls at the factory and tells Sarah Barlow how Izzy’s really struggling and it would be good if she could return to work.
Sarah and Gary facetime Izzy and at Kirk’s suggestion, ask her if she’d like to sew knickers from home.
And Aasi Alahan sees red when Corey emerges from sister Asha's bedroom.
He's furious to realise he stayed the night and threatens to tell Dev but Corey goads Aadi telling him his sister has a voracious sexual appetite.
Aadi snaps and punches Corey on the nose before Dev returns home to find Asha and Aadi trading insults.
But in order to protect Asha, Aadi keeps shtum and doesn't tell his dad what really happened.
