Coronation Street says goodbye to Norris Cole as ITV confirms end of an era

Fans are devastated as ITV confirms that fan favourite character Norris Cole is to be killed off next week.

Norris has been absent from the soap for a while now, as actor Malcolm Hebden confirmed earlier this year he won't return to Coronation Street due to health reasons.

The sad scenes are set to air Wednesday 15 September, as Ken Barlow finds out Norris wants to meet up with him to tell him some important news.

However, shortly after Ken, Rita Tanner and Mary Taylor will be told Norris has collapsed, and then subsequently died in hospital without the group ever finding out what he had to tell them.

Norris last appeared in the soap in 2020 as his character returned to the cobbles to celebrate VE Day in Weatherfield.

ITV initially announced that the character was going to remain offscreen in Stillwaters, but instead fans are set to say goodbye for good to the character next week.

To go alongside with the characters death, ITV are airing an exit special for the actor - Coronation Street Icons: Norris Cole.

Malcolm will be featuring in the show to say goodbye to the character he has played since 1994, alongside interviews from cast and crew.

Coronation Street Icons: Norris Cole will air on Monday September 13 at 8pm on ITV.
