Coronation Street's Tracie Bennett shows off painful eye injury and asks fans for help

Coronation Street 's Tracie Bennett shared a snap of her painful eye injury and asked her fans for help.

The actress, 61, took to Twitter to share a close-up photo of the purple bruising around her eye socket.

She also asked fans whether there was a point in covering up the injury make-up.

Tracie wrote: "Shall I even bother to put makeup on? It’ll get worse before it gets better."

Fans immediately took to the comment section to offer advice, with many telling her to use Arnica.

"Use arnica it will heal a lot faster, you can buy arnica tablets from hill and and Barrett's," one user said.

Another added: "It’s yellowing so getting better- arnica cream and tablets will speed recovery."

"Well, the swelling and bruising will show. But make-up will help with little camouflage. If ýour going out," one posted.

One concerned user wrote: "Goodness what on earth happened?! Hope it's not too painful, leave well alone to heal xx."

Tracie didn't explain where the injury came from.

The actress - who trained at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London - is best known for her role as Sharon Gaskell in Coronation Street from 1982 to 1984, returning to the role in 1999 and again in 2021.

Last March, she reprised her role after 22 years away from Weatherfield.

Three months later, Tracie took to social media to share an emotional message with fans as she bid farewell to the set of Corrie.

At the time, viewers watched evil Sharon try to con Street legend Rita into handing over £10,000 under suspect circumstances following the guilty verdict of drug boss Harvey Gaskell.

After the scenes aired on ITV, Tracie, who first had a stint on Corrie back in 1982, shared some behind-the-scenes snaps with her Twitter followers alongside a heartfelt caption.

"I had just shot my very last scene ⁦⁦@itvcorrie ⁩ for a while &went to dressing room to change," she tweeted regarding her selfie against the street's famous cobbles.

"All just so I could say 'Ter Ra' at this very moment. Thanks to those who know what they did for me & to haters & lovers," the 60-year-old continued.

"We do our best for everyone. See you soon. ‘Av it."
