Coronation Street's Toyah 'playing Imran' as viewers predict paternity twist

Coronation Street fans think Toyah Battersby is playing her fiancé Imran Habeeb - so she can get her hands on his baby.

Viewers watched Toyah (Georgia Taylor) take Imran (Charlie de Melo) back last week after finding out he had cheated on her with Abi Webster (Sally Carman).

Not only that, but he fathered a baby with the former heroin addict after a drunken one-night-stand.

Sadly, Toyah can’t have children and after recently failing to adopt foster child Elsie, this could be her only chance to be a mum.

While Toyah is saying she wants to give it another go with Imran – with the pair even getting engaged – Corrie fans aren’t convinced.

One fan theory is Toyah could really be helping Abi win back custody of baby Alfie – and is just pretending to be back with Imran.

“Literally praying for a twist that Toyah is playing Imran and will get her revenge by helping Abi get custody of Alfie,” one viewer wrote on Twitter.

Another said: “I REALLY, REALLY hope that Toyah is playing Imran like a good’ un and pretending to be on his side to make sure that Abi gets sole custody of Alfie... Double if Abi is in on it too.”

“Toyah is definitely playing Imran like a fiddle. Go on girl,” a third added.

While a fourth fan cast more doubt on the storyline, saying: “I still refuse to believe Toyah forgives Imran that easily. I’d never forgive someone for cheating on me.”

What we do know is Charlie De Melo, who plays solicitor Imran, is leaving the soap later this year.

But his exit storyline has yet to be revealed, so will he end up getting custody of baby Alfie?

Speaking about his onscreen character, actor Charlie – who arrived on the cobbles in 2017 – said he thought Imran was “selfish” and really out for himself.

He told Manchester Evening News : “I think he’s far more selfish than he would let on.

“I think he represents himself as heroic and wants to be seen as heroic – but I don’t think anything he does, really, is selfless.

“He’s shown that when he has done wrong to the people that he professes to love and be closest to, he does everything he can to avoid responsibility.”

In March The Sun reported that although Charlie had “loved his time on the soap” he believes now is the right time to try new things.

The source said he will continue to “cherish” the time he has spent in Corrie but “wants to see what else is out there”.

Coronation Street airs on ITV Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm
