Coronation Street's Tim to discover dad Geoff abused mum Tessa as he finds out dark truth

Tim Metcalfe might be convinced that Geoff is an angel right now, but he is set to find out the dark truth about his dad on Coronation Street.

The mystery surrounding Tim's mum Tessa will be explored over the next few months as Yasmeen is set to go to trial.

Yasmeen (Shelley King) was forced to defend herself after husband Geoff backed her into a corner, however Geoff has since lied about what happened and said that she attacked him unprovoked.

And while Tim is firmly in his corner at the moment, he likely won't be after hearing that he has been lied to about his mother all these years.

Speaking to Mirror TV and other publications last week, soap boss Iain MacLeod teased that Geoff's past will come back to haunt him.

He said: "It would be highly unlikely that Geoff had never committed these behaviours previously.

"What we have discovered from our research is that perpetrators have a cyclical pattern of behaviour.

“They lure someone in with love bombing and grand gestures and that gradually gives way over time.”

This suggests that Geoff has abused past partners in the past, which likely includes Tessa - who Tim has previously mentioned in a negative way.

Tessa was previously Geoff's magician's assistant - could he have abused her in a similar way to Yasmeen, such as locking her in the box?

Iain added: "They then move onto someone else so it's right we look back at Geoff's previous relationships and see he has done this before.

"We will really explore Geoff and Tim's backstory. It's a good opportunity to find out about Tim's family background. Lots of family saga stuff to come."
