Coronation Street's Tim star Joe Duttine compares himself and co-star fiancee to 'Shrek and Fiona' in loved-up snap

Joe Duttine and Sally Carman are far from ogres, despite what he may have posted online.

The Coronation Street actor, who plays Tim Metcalfe, marked the New Year with a loved-up snap.

Joe took to Instagram to share the selfie of himself with his co-star fiance, best known for playing the ITV soap's Abi Franklin.

The slightly brightly image saw the husband and wife-to-be smiling for the camera while dressed up for the end of 2021 celebrations.

Joe looked to be dressed in a black suit jacket and white shirt while Sally was donning a sparkly green number.

"When Shrek met Fiona," the soap star captioned the photo posted to his thousands of followers.

"May your new year be filled with madness and joy, from us two swamp dwellers," he added.

The post was quickly flooded with messages from fans sending their best wishes for the year ahead as well as compliments for the couple.

Sally and Joe are thought to have started their relationship in the summer of 2018 and moved into a new home together at the end of 2019.

The couple then announced the happy news that they were engaged in March 2020.

And the soap actors are planning their big day for later this year.

"I’m obsessed with Christmas, so when Joe said: ‘What’s your favourite time, when would you most like to do it?’ it had to be Christmas," Sally told the Mirror last month.

"We’re going to have the wedding late afternoon so it will be dark and it will be lit by rows of Christmas trees and twinkly lights; I can’t wait."
