Coronation Street's Steve horrified by worrying secret link to new Bailey family

The Bailey family all arrived on Coronation Street tonight - but they didn't get the warmest of welcomes.

After dad Ed clashed with Ken Barlow over the noise of their repairs, Steve McDonald was sent over to tell them to be quiet.

Steve prepared to face feisty matriarch Aggie but was pleasantly surprised when she welcomed him in for a chocolate shoe.

There was an awkward meeting when James walked in and instantly recognised Steve from a previous clash.

James was knocked down by a car after he refused to pay a taxi fare and was chased by Steve with a baseball bat.

The pair claimed they didn't know each other, but Ed and Aggie noticed that they clearly recognised one another.

Steve claimed he had "one of those faces", but they were foiled when James said that he was a taxi driver.

When asked how he knew that, Steve and James both said different answers at the same time.

Panicking Steve said: "Look it wasn’t my fault, okay. I thought James and his mates were going to do a runner.

"The bat was just for show. I didn’t know he was going to get hit by a car."

Steve then rushed out of the house, while James was left to answer questions from his furious parents.

Corrie fans took to Twitter to express their delight for the Baileys' arrival.

One viewer said: "Gosh, a new #Corrie family that's instantly likeable! Loving @trevor_georges and @LornaLaidlawUK already. Terrific casting."Welcome to Weatherfield, the Baileys""

"I'm liking the Baileys thus far @itvcorrie they seem like they'll fit right in #Corrie," added another.

A third said: "The #Baileys have only been on... the #Cobbles five minutes and i am aleady loving them!"
