Simon Gregson has sent out a message to anxiety sufferers to say they are ‘not alone’.
The Coronation Street star spoke out on Twitter about his own struggles after watching BBC show Nadiya: Anxiety and Me.
The programme, which follows former Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain’s mental health struggles, prompted the actor, who plays Steve McDonald, to open up about his ‘awful’ experience living with the disorder.
He tweeted: “Anxiety and me, BBC1, apologies ITV. This is real and awful to live with please watch and understand it’s a hidden awful emotion that affects far more than you’d think. BUT treatable and manageable with the right help. Not alone people.”

Simon explained that a combination of therapy and medication helped him cope, adding “you’ll be surprised how many people suffer”.
“Tablets work different for different people," he explained. "Mine worked with therapy. However you need to find the right one for you.
“You’ll be surprised how many people suffer. You don’t have to suffer. It’s a road to go down for yourself if you want too.”
When a follower commented that their 15 year old daughter is currently ‘going through hell’ due to anxiety, Simon spoke of the pressures young people have to cope with.

“Life is so complicated now,” he said.
“Too many pressures on our babies. Take a month go back to nature love and patience. One life. Enjoy embrace and love each other.”
The soap star has spoken previously about battling depression.
He was signed off work in 2015 for an undisclosed illness.
However two years ago he said he was the happiest he’s ever been.
The actor said at the time: “I had to pinch myself the other day – a beautiful wife and three beautiful kids who are hilarious.”
