Coronation Street fans were left gobsmacked by the soap's "seedy" Tyrone story line with Aline.
Viewers were less than impressed when the pair kissed with many expressing their concern for Tyrone's long term partner Fiz.
During Friday night's double bill, Corrie showed mechanic Tyrone Dobbs get close with her former lodger Alina Pop.
Alina confessed to the dependable, long running, character that she had fallen for him before the pair shared a kiss.
According to Manchester Evening News, the kiss sent ripples through the soap fan world with viewers taking their opinions to social media.
A number of the show's avid followers even described the plot involving Tyrone and Alina as "seedy".
Others said they were not a fan.
One soap watcher said: "Seedy story."
Another added: "Not a fan of this storyline.
"I like Tyrone and Fiz as a couple and I find the scenes between Alina and Tyrone uncomfortable to watch."
One viewer said: "Like why you got split Tyrone and Fiz who asked for this?!"
Another added: "Absolutely gobsmacked, I simply never saw this happening.
"No buildup, no clue, nothing looked obvious. Truly amazed they got it together."
One more said: "Let Fiz and Tyrone be happy."
But another fan tweeted: "*pops head above the metaphorical parapet* I like them together. Alina actually appreciates him..."
Bosses have revealed the secret to how Tyrone and Alina managed to kiss on a bench in Victoria Gardens during the pandemic.
Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone, and Ruxandra Porojnicu, who plays Alina, were never seated on the bench together and the soap used a real life couple as kissing doubles.
In order to not break coronavirus social distancing rules in the UK, regular Corrie extra Alex Mulvaney and his wife Hannah stepped in to take their place.
To make sure the actors had the correct eye line, Corrie’s design department taped a pair of sunglasses onto a telescopic radio aerial so the on-screen lovers could give the impression of looking into each other's eyes.
Tyrone is unaware that while he's in turmoil over the kiss, Fiz has booked them a surprise romantic wedding in Greece after worrying that the spark had gone from their relationship.
The doting dad of two has grown closer to Alina after she received the tragic news that her beloved family dog had passed away and the fellow dog lover comforted her.
