Coronation Street's Sam Aston lets slip secret during first solo TV interview

He may be one of Coronation Street's longest serving cast members, but Sam Aston has never done a television interview on his own.

The actor, who has played Chesney Brown in the ITV soap for 16 years, made his solo TV interview debut on Monday's episode of This Morning.

When asked by show hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willougby what has taken him so long, Sam said that it was a "mixture of things" and that it was a privilege to be on the show.

The 26-year-old also said: "I quite like my privacy, I'm a simple guy really.

"I wouldn't say I'm a recluse but I like my own space."

Sam was on the daytime favourite to discuss his ongoing storyline with co-star Gemma Winter, played by Dolly-Rose Campbell, which will see the pair become parents to quadruplets.

And he seems to have let viewers in on a bit of a filming trick that could see not just four, but EIGHT babies playing Chesney and Gemma's new arrivals.

"Normally when you have a baby you have twins," Sam said. "So, I imagine it will have to be double because they can only be on set for so long."

When a bewildered Holly then reiterated "eight babies?" Sam replied, "I reckon eight babies, maybe."

But luckily for Sam, he said he comes from a big family.

As one of nine children and uncle to 15, he will hopefully be able to cope with the potential mayhem.
