Coronation Street's Sam Aston is looking forward to becoming a dad for a second time - this time to a little girl.
The actor, 28, who plays Chesney Brown in the soap already has a son, Sonny, 16 months with his wife Briony and now the pair are expecting a daughter.
Sam revealed his wife was pregnant again in October in an adorable post on Instagram.
Sitting in a pumpkin patch little Sonny, sporting a sweet rainbow jumper, held up a sign that read: "We're adding another pumpkin to our patch! Due Spring 2022".
Speaking about his shock when he found out the sex of the new baby Sam said: "I could see us having another boy, so it was a really nice surprise.
"I was quite shocked. I don’t know why, because it’s a 50/50 chance!
"There are twins in Briony’s family, so when we went in I was a bit nervous and said, 'There’s definitely only one in there, right?' He said, 'There’s only one!' and then told us it was a girl!", he told OK! Magazine.
The couple hadn't planned to have another baby so soon after Sonny, but now they're delighted the siblings will be close in age.
Yoga teacher Briony said: "We were actually trying not to get pregnant! [Laughs] Just because Sonny was so premature – my concern was having two too close together and having another premature baby. But it just happened!"
The pair married in 2019 two years after announcing their engagement.
They said their vows in front of a number of his soap co-stars, including Brooke Vincent, Alan Halsall and Mikey North.
Sam and Briony welcomed Sonny six weeks early in August 2020, with proud mum Briony posting at the time: "He calmly entered our world 6 weeks early on 11.08.20 at 5lb 7oz and we couldn’t be more in love".
Sam was just 10 years old when he joined Corrie as Chesney, and has grown up on screen.
He is now a dad on the show dealing with no less than four babies to look after with his on-screen partner Gemma Winter.
The actor previously said the storyline had helped him prepare for the real thing.
