Coronation Street star Sally Carman has hit back after eagle-eyed fans spotted Abi Franklin's nails blunder.
The cobbles favourite made a "glamorous" appearance on today's Lorraine, with the presenter joking she had ditched the overalls and looked "completely different".
Sally admitted there is one "concession" she makes when appearing as mechanic Abi - her nails.
Some Corrie viewers spotted that, despite working in a filthy garage, Abi's nails were looking perfect.
Sally said: "They don’t miss a trick - it's amazing it really is. My argument to that would be why can’t she have lovely nails because she's in a garage?
"It's my one concession. I know she looks awful and the back of her hair isn't done."
Sally explained that she gets praise for looking glam when she goes out in public, but joked they realise who she is when she starts speaking.
On not having to put much make-up on, she said: "It's a bittersweet thing as my favourite room is the make-up room.
"You get a chat and all the gossip. I'm briefly in there. It's great, it's a two minute job. "I'm let off the hook."
Sally confessed she loves playing such a strong character but also enjoys showing a vulnerable side to Abi.
Her character is set to get revenge on sleazy Ray when she discovers he is a "sex pest".
Sally said: "She has got something planned and it's not the best idea she’s ever had. She acts and then the after thought is maybe I shouldn’t have done that ."
