Coronation Street's Roy Cropper heartbroken as beloved brother dies

There was heartache tonight for Roy Cropper as he discovered his newly-found brother Richard dead on the floor of his flat.

The pair came together earlier this year when the veteran hunted down his secret sibling.

But tragically Coronation Street favourite Roy, played by David Neilson, finds him lifeless, just weeks after they became close.

The character only learned he had a brother in October but was told he had a terminal illness.

Richard, who has pulmonary fibrosis, died after his carer didn't show.

His daughter Nina was also looking after him but they returned to his home to find out it was too late.

Roy has been keen to help out since finding out he existed, but was forced to leave him alone in the flat after an incident at the café.

When Richard's new carer failed to show up, he suffers a fall at the flat with no one there to help him.

When his sibling calls him up to check on him, Richard lies that he is fine.

But when Roy does make it back to the flat, he is horrified to find his brother slumped on the floor.

He calls an ambulance but the paramedics fail to revive him and he's pronounced dead.

Nina walks through the door just as his death is confirmed leaving them all distraught.

A shocked Roy feels guilty for leaving him, and later begs niece Nina to move in with him.

But there are problems ahead as the two clash.

She was under the impression Roy was with him when he died and there is fall-out ahead when she learns otherwise.
