Coronation Street's Norris returns as actor Malcolm Hebden is spotted on set

Norris Cole is finally set to return to Coronation Street.

Actor Malcolm Hebden has been seen on set filming new scenes for the ITV soap.

The 80-year-old actor seemed in good spirits as he appeared to be looking well whilst wearing a dark blue blazer with a cardigan and a white shirt.

Malcom took a significant time off of work following a heart attack in 2017 and has appeared sporadically on the soap since.

The character of Norris was last seen in Weatherfield in December when he paid a visit to his longtime friend and former colleague, Rita Sullivan ( Barbara Knox ).

Norris' most recent storylines saw him divorce wife Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) last year as he hoped to wed new flame Freda.

In his scenes last month he had a brief cup of tea with friend Rita before abruptly leaving to see Freda at the Rovers.

A saddened Rita said to Norris when he appeared to reject her to see Freda alone: "I never thought I'd say this, but it would be lovely to see more of you."

Norris' brush-off of Rita played a role in a Christmas storyline that saw the shop owner struggling with loneliness.

We are sure having Norris back full-time will bring a smile back to the feisty redhead's face.

Elsewhere on the cobbles, actress Lucy Fallon has filmed her final scenes as Bethany Platt, but actor Jack P. Shepherd had an unexpected message for his departing co-star.

Coronation Street continues on ITV on Monday at 7.30pm.
