Coronation Street's Max Turner 'recast' with new actor for autumn storyline

Coronation Street's Max Turner has been recast.

Viewers will know the youngster as the son of Kylie, played by Paula Lane, who married David Platt in 2011.

The couple went on to have daughter Lily a year later, but in 2016 Kylie was stabbed to death by Clayton Hibbs in horrifying scenes.

With Max's dad Callum Logan also dead - after he was killed by ex Kylie as he attacked Sarah Platt - Max has stayed in David's care alongside half-sister Lily.

The character is set to get a new face after 11-year-old Harry McDermott original played the role.

According to the Metro, Paddy Bever has taken over and has already started filming on the show. His first appearance on screen is due later this month.

Coronation Street said in a statement: "We have all watched Harry grow up alongside Max Turner for the past 11 years and we want to thank him for everything he has brought to the character.

"It is always a difficult decision to recast a role and we look forward to following Harry's career as he continues with his acting studies and explores other opportunities. We wish him every success for the future."

Max on-screen more recently with Shona and Sarah (ITV)

Max, who suffers from ADHD, is expected to be central to an autumn storyline which is yet to be revealed by the ITV soap.

He won't be the first character to have a change of actor.

More recently, Summer Spellman underwent a change with older actress Harriet Bibby joining Corrie as the 16-year-old.

The role was recast after Matilda Freeman, who was the same age as the character, decided to leave the soap.

Last year, a different actor took over the role of Aadi Alahan after Zennon Ditchett, who has played Aadi since 2009, made the decision to leave the show to focus on his A Level Studies at the end of 2019.

The teenager is now played by Manchester actor Adam Hussain who previously had roles in The Bay, Fertile Crescent and Ansentia.
