Coronation Street's Lydia actress shares secret soap past on ITV soap Emmerdale

Coronation Street actress Rebecca Ryan had a secret role in ITV soap Emmerdale.

Rebecca is currently known to ITV viewers as Lydia Chambers, who has made it her mission to destroy her ex Adam Barlow's life as she vows to get her revenge and get even with him after he destroyed her life when they were younger.

Whilst Lydia is out looking for revenge when it comes to lawyer Adam, she had a much sweeter role in Emmerdale.

However, before starring in Corrie, Rebecca had a little known role in fellow ITV soap Emmerdale, which she made brief appearances in 2001 and 2006, before she was replaced by Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson.

Rebecca made a couple of brief appearances as Bob Hope's daughter Carly in Emmerdale, before the role was re-cast and taken over by Gemma Atkinson, as the actress teased she could make a return one day.

"I was actually in Emmerdale years ago as Bob Hope’s daughter, and then Gemma Atkinson took over my part," she explained to OK! about her brief role on the ITV soap, "I had an amazing time on the show so it would be great to go back."

She may be a household name now but Rebecca insisted she never planned to go into acting.

She added: "I fell into acting - it wasn’t something that I said I wanted to do at ten years old. My older brother Charlie, who has always wanted to do acting from a very young age, got a part in BBC drama State of Play.

"They rang up to ask about him bringing some photos of his family to dress the set and they happened to mention that they hadn’t cast a little sister for him yet. He said, 'Well, I’ve got a little sister!'"

Rebecca stars in Corrie alongside her own brother - Jack James Ryan, who plays Jacob Hay - but the pair have yet to share a scene together, something which Rebecca has admitted is a bit of a "shame".

"We've not managed to have any scenes together, unfortunately," she told the Daily Star.

"I was thinking, 'Could we not just have one where I’m in the background of one of his scenes, just walking past?' - but no we’ve not managed to get one together yet, which is such a shame!"
