Coronation Street’s Lisa George in chronic pain battle following shoulder injury

Coronation Street star Lisa George has been left unable to dress herself due to chronic pain she has been suffering for months.

Lisa, 50, plays Beth Sutherland in the hit ITV soap and enrolled a personal trainer after her big birthday to help her work out.

But unfortunately for the star the decision triggered a shoulder issue and she has spent several months unable to lift her left arm.

And Lisa has confessed that she's been in "absolute agony".

Speaking to The Sun, the actress explained that she had been working out to try to build upper body strength.

She said: "We’d been doing planks and weights, and the trainer noticed that I kept moaning about my arm.

"And I was like, it’s really sore. It got worse and worse to the point that I couldn’t even lift my left arm."

She admitted that the injury meant she couldn't put her bra on or wear clothes with a zip at the back as her arm wouldn't reach around.

And she also said that it has left her unable to do her hair so she has to wear it down and has to wear baggy clothes to make sure she can get in and out of them.

In a bid to cure her issue she had Cortisone injections but said they did nothing to stop the pain so had had to plead for her doctor to help.

Since then, she was referred to a specialist surgeon who told her that she had chronic frozen shoulder and it was a "50s thing".

"I was like great, welcome to my 50s!," she said before saying that hopefully the issue will be sorted soon.

Lisa underwent Hydrodilatation treatment at the weekend and is hopeful that it will see her on the path to recovery.

She added: "The pain has got me feeling so tired because it’s just constant pain and at night, I’m in agony.

"I’ve been sleeping sitting up or laying on my other side, and have had to put a pillow under my arm."

The injury comes as the star spent most of the past year at home needing to shield due to the pandemic.

She was eventually able to make her comeback on the cobbles in October last year before another spell on the sidelines until May.
