Coronation Street's Leanne lashes out at Toyah with cruel infertility comment

Leanne Battersby will turn on her sister in one of the worst possible ways as her grief becomes too much to bear on Coronation Street.

Ever since Toyah, played by Georgia Taylor, returned to the cobbles in 2016 she has been desperate to have a child.

But despite numerous attempts at IVF, Toyah was unable to become pregnant.

More recently, she had been planning to foster children with her boyfriend Imran (Charlie de Melo), but upon finding out that her sister's son Oliver had a terminal illness she decided to put their plans on hold.

Next week, Leanne struggles under the weight of Oliver's mitochondrial disease diagnosis and Dr Gaddas suggests that she consider either counselling or medication.

Leanne is furious and refuses, so when Toyah calls round to offer some support, she isn't in the best mood.

She turns on her sister, pointing out that she has no idea how she is feeling because Toyah hasn't got any children.

Imran and Nick try to urge Leanne not to take her grief out on Toyah, who has been left devastated over Oliver.

Nick goes on to suggest that they attend a support group for parents of terminally ill children - will she agree to go?

Later in the week, Leanne finally apologises to Toyah for all the horrible things she has said.

Toyah forgives her and puts her in touch with Josie, who runs a support group for parents with terminally ill children.

Josie gets chatting to Leanne, who takes comfort after hearing her own experience...

*Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV
