Coronation Street's Katie McGlynn is unrecognisable in pink-haired throwback pic

Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn has shared with her fans that she used to 'think pink' with a throwback pic that looks a mile away from her Sinead Tinker persona on the cobbles.

The soap star has looked back to a time when she donned a long pink wig with echoes of Frenchy from Grease in an Instagram snap that will get her followers looking twice.

The 25-year-old soap star captioned the throwback pic: "Beauty school drop out. #throwback #frenchy #pinkhair #pinkhairmakesmehappy."

There are thoughts that this could be a hint at whether Katie's soap alter-ego Sinead survives her cervical cancer battle.

There was a time when fans of the long-running ITV soap thought that there was no coming back for Sinead, especially after the diagnosis seemed terminal, with an aggressive form of the cancer.

"If I get to stay longer it will be amazing because Sinead is a great character."

The storyline has been helped by Katie working closely with a charity that raises awareness and gives support for cancer sufferers.

Speaking about Mummy's Star, Katie said: "Not everyone wants to watch a touchy subject like this but I do think it’s important as it helps make the public more aware and know that help is out there."
