Coronation Street's Katie McGlynn breaks silence on exit rumours in epic rant

Katie McGlynn has finally broken her silence on rumours she is leaving Coronation Street .

The Sinead Tinker actress is believed to be one of seven stars who have 'quit' the ITV soap this year.

On this week's Celebrity Juice, which was filmed just days before several stars announced they were quitting the soap , Katie joked she had been on Corrie "too long".

When host Keith Lemon asked how long she had been playing Sinead, she replied: "Too long... I'm joking! I think it’s been about seven years."

Hitting back at speculation of her exit, Katie took to Twitter on Friday night in an epic rant to have her say on the "silly rumours going around".

Katie McGlynn jokes she's been on Corrie 'too long' just days before 'mass exodus'

She tweeted: "Unlucky timing with my sarcastic humour on CelebJuice when these silly rumours are going around. I have not ‘quit’ Corrie, I am contracted well into this year & am fully committed to our long running storyline, we do not know the outcome as of yet, which is how we like it!"

Katie then addressed the rumoured backstage rift on the soap that may have contributed to the mass exodus.

She added: "I LOVE working at Corrie & LOVE everyone there! It’s a fabulous place to work FYI # luckygal"

So far seven actors have quit this year, with six more expected to be announcing their departures over the next month.

On Katie's departure, a Corrie spokesperson said: "Katie is fully committed to playing out the extremely important storyline she is currently portraying on screen.

"This story still has a long way to go. Any speculation threatens to undermine the storyline for viewers."

Reported reasons behind the exits have been extended filming schedules, working weekends and pay gap rows.

However, insiders have adamantly denied that this is the case.

An ITV source told Mirror TV: "The production days for the show are Monday to Friday.

"We don’t work at the weekend other than very occasionally, we have worked three Sundays this year and at the moment no more are planned. We don’t ever work on a Saturday."

*Coronation Street airs on ITV on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm
