Coronation Street's James vows to fight against police racism after complaint thrown out

James Bailey vows to continue his fight against police racism on Coronation Street next week.

Last week, footballer James became the victim of racist PC Brody after he was pulled over with his brother Michael and restrained.

Events took a turn for the worst when James fell and was injured as a result of the unjust restraint.

Despite having made a complaint against PC Brody for what happened, James faces disappointment next week when he learns his complaint has been dismissed.

On Monday (August 2) Sergeant Mitchell calls at No.3 and reveals to the Bailey brothers that the complaint has been looked at and has been dismissed, upsetting them both.

Later in Victoria Garden, James is working out when he spots neighbour PC Craig Tinker and asks him if he reported that he was not driving erratically when PC Brody pulled him over.

Craig is flustered as James presses for the truth but it soon becomes clear to a disappointed James that Craig has let him down, leaving Craig feeling terrible.

Later, Craig asks PC Brody more about the incident and is left horrified when PC Brody says that black people are just oversensitive.

James later has a visit from his County Manager, Robert, who reveals he is pleased that the case is being dropped.

An angered James then vows to continue his fight against what happened and plans to appeal.

Will James succeed in his fight against police racism?

And, if so, will it create more issues for his career to stand up for what is right?

Meanwhile, will Craig decide it is time to side with his friend James against his racist colleague PC Brody?

Elsewhere on the cobbles next week, there is a struggle to survive for Alina Pop as a mysterious fire starts in the flat above the salon.

As Alina is rushed to hospital with boyfriend Tyrone Hobbs by her side, questions arise from his ex Fiz Brown about just what connection her daughter Hope Stape has to what happened.

Who started the fire? And will all be well with Tyrone’s family in the aftermath?
