Coronation Street's James Burrows staying after 'juicy storylines' are promised

James Burrows has signed an extension to his stay in Coronation Street , to continue his role as Dr Ali Neeson.

He has recently revealed that he thought about quitting the ITV soap, especially after his screen mother Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor, announced her exit.

Since his arrival in early 2018, James has become a fan favourite and Corrie bosses have promised a string of 'juicy storylines' to keep him on board.

This means that he will now stay beyond Kym's exit, with the contract taking him past Christmas.

“Corrie bosses reckon James is too much of a good talent to lose. His character is going to be part of some really juicy plots coming up too.

“We're sure viewers will be pleased to hear the news as he has become quite the fan favourite since his arrival in early 2018."

He admitted recently: ""I won't stay for years. There are other roles I'd like to do."

What is for sure is that he will see the exit of Michelle Connor, after Kym announced that she was quitting the soap after 13 years.

It is thought that her character won't be killed off for good, as the door is being left open for Kym to return at a later day.

Speaking on Loose Women, Kym said: "I've said I'm taking a break, so yeah. I think it's just a break for me. Being there for 13 years without taking anytime away..."

"It has flown by and I've had such a wonderful time on that show. I've learnt so much and I've made friends for life.

"But it's time for me to take a little break. I just want to scratch a few itches."

Meanwhile, her exit storyline is being kept under wraps but with the promise of 'juicy storylines' for James, it has upped the ante on how Kym will bow out.
