Coronation Street's Jack James Ryan confirms Jacob's fate on soap

Coronation Street's Jack James Ryan has confirmed Jacob Hay has left the soap.

The Manchester actor has not long joined the soap as part of a gang who are running drugs under the cover of food deliveries.

He befriended vulnerable Simon Barlow into the gang but on Friday's show, Corrie viewers discovered that Jacob had been secretly ripping off their boss Harvey, played by Will Mellor.

Simon was in for a scary shock as Harvey showed up on the cobbles and confessed to being responsible for putting Jacob in hospital after discovering his betrayal.

Following the hour-long Friday episode, Jack confirmed his character's exit from the ITV soap.

He tweeted: "[And] thats Jacob Hay over and out.

"I can't thank the fans enough for welcoming me into the #corrie fam with open arms.

"This has honestly been an absolute dream come true for me! Who knows what's next for Jacob?

"For now, stick with us at @itvcorrie to see how this plays out."

Jack also shared a photo of him in front of the Coronation Street sign as he celebrated his time on the long-running soap.

The actor's new co-stars were quick to show their support.

Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby, replied: "I hope its not- so much more to explore! You have a special talent Jack and deserve huge success."

Jenny Connor actress Sally Ann Matthews added: "You’ve been absolutely brilliant. Quite sure I’ll see you on my telly very soon!"

"You’ll be back. Kelly certainly isn’t letting go of Jacob," Millie Gibson, who plays Kelly Neelan.

Joe Riordan, who plays Nick Tilsley's son Sam, added: "Hope I'll work with you again Jack. you da best."
