Coronation Street airs the arrival of Geoff Metcalfe's ex-wife Elaine next week - the person who could bring the villain down.
The newcomer's identity is initially under wraps, before she confirms who she is to a stunned Yasmeen Nazir, the current wife of Geoff.
Not only that, but what she has to say leaves the character reeling.
Elaine makes her Corrie debut just before Yasmeen stands trial, accused of attempting to murder Geoff.
But as Yasmeen learns Geoff has a secret other victim, appearing to be Elaine, will she help her?
Yasmeen was arrested after a brutal attack saw her stab Geoff in the neck with a broken glass bottle, while it was in self-defence.
His abuse led to the deadly attack, and Yasmeen has been in prison ever since - while at a recent court hearing she pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.
Yasmeen is awaiting trial, and it appears she may consider getting back with her husband after all, following his offer to retract his statement if they reconciled.
So could Elaine be making her comeback to save Yasmeen, and put an end to Geoff's reign of terror?
Later on in the week Yasmeen confides in her lawyer Imran Habeeb about the mystery lady.
The visitor confirms herself to be an abuse victim of Geoff's, while it appears she could shield her identity as Geoff's former spouse at first - while this remains to be seen.
Back on the Cobbles, Elaine is seen spying on Geoff and his son Tim Metcalfe.
She's spotted by Ryan Connor, who is dating Yasmeen's granddaughter Alya Nazir.
He sees Elaine watching them as the pair head to court but will she tell him who she is?
