Coronation Street's Gail Platt distracts viewers with new 'youthful' appearance

Coronation Street's Gail Platt stunned viewers of the ITV soap on Tuesday night as she showed off her brand new look, with many fans remarking it made her look younger.

Gail, played by 70-year-old Helen Worth, exhibited a longer hairstyle as the actress has not been able to get her hair cut in lockdown.

The Weatherfield matriarch was left heartbroken when her son, Nick Tilsley, ran after Leanne Battersby at the train station and asked to go with her and her son Simon Barlow as they escape the town due to drug baron Harvey.

Gail could not believe he left her, as well as his son Sam and Sam's mum Natasha Blakeman, without saying goodbye, and vowed never to forgive him.

One viewer tweeted: "If Gail's hair gets any bigger, it'll get its own acting credit in the end titles #Corrie ".

Another wrote: "Gail looks younger again with long hair!" while a third added: "Gail’s hair’s grown loads..."

Later this week on Corrie, Gail is thrilled when Natasha asks her to babysit Sam for a little while.

But will Nick and Leanne ever return? Viewers have had their say after they were left infuriated by Nick's choice to abandon Sam so soon after even learning he existed.

As the youngster waved to him from the window, Nick looked gutted as he bid farewell to his life on the cobbles and sped off with Leanne.

But Corrie viewers had no sympathy for Nick at all, and took to Twitter to blast him for his actions.

"Nick choosing Leeanne over Sam disgusts me tbh. i'm glad to see the back of them! good riddance! #Corrie," one person tweeted.

Another person fumed: "You've broken Sam, Nick #Corrie," but one viewer was rather optimistic and tweeted: "Nick won't leave sam! He'll be back #Corrie."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
