Coronation Street's Emma in horror collapse - and could have Jim McDonald's illness

Emma Brooker will suffer a horror collapse in a harrowing new Coronation Street storyline - and may have inherited Jim McDonald's illness.

Steve McDonald, who has only just discovered he had a long lost daughter with Fiona Middleton, will be terrified when she falls unconscious.

After feeling unwell and in pain, Emma leaves the salon to get checked out at the medical centre but collapses in agony in the street.

Villainous Gary Windass rushes to the scene and calls for help after finding her lifeless on the cobbles.

Worried Emma will have no idea what is wrong with her, but Steve realises that it might have something to do with his dad's condition.

A source told The Sun : "Emma's not going to understand what's wrong with her but her dad Steve knows only too well what it could be.

"Jim's illness skipped a generation with Steve but the possibility of it affecting Emma is almost too much to contemplate.

"It's going to be a really harrowing time for the McDonalds if it's what caused Emma's collapse."

The McDonald clan will fear that Jim's condition has been passed down to Emma and leave her seriously ill.

Back in October 2016, Jim was hospitalised while serving time in prison and diagnoses with myotonic dystrophy.

There was cause for concern for Steve when his old man rang him to reveal he had a 50% chance of having the condition as well.

Jim planned revenge on Steve and Liz because they did not care for him when he was diagnosed with the debilitating illness.

As part of his dastardly scheme, nasty Jim pretended that their daughter Katie was still alive, but it was actually his young girlfriend Hannah.

After discovering the shocking truth Jim was sent packing by Liz, but could he return to help his granddaughter?

What does this mean for Emma? (ITV)

Emma has yet to be tested for the illness as she only recently discovered she is a secret McDonald.

The genetic disorder gradually weakens the muscles and can result in disability and other serious problems.

Will Emma get the help she desperately needs?
