Eileen Grimshaw is leaving Coronation Street after a shock plot twist forces her out of Weatherfield.
The taxi rank worker, played by Sue Cleaver, will be forced into witness protection after the truth about her new man Jan came out.
Jan was actually a secret police informant and was investigating the sex ring that he was hinted to be running.
And Eileen will be offered a place in witness protection because of her connection with him.
A source told The Sun : "She is going to go into witness protection and leave Weatherfield after it turns out Jan is not dodgy after all.
"He's an informant for the cops and helping to bring down a human trafficking ring.
"They've just filmed scenes where she’s making arrangements to go.
"She only tells Seb the real reason she’s going, but sees her mates like Liz and says her goodbyes without them knowing she’s actually leaving."
A devastated Jan found out he wouldn't be able to contact Eileen again when his identity was revealed.
He was told: "The welfare [team] will come see you, but they'll suggest for your own safety that you don't try to see or contact Eileen ever again."
She still believes he was in on the sex ring, but is about to find out that he is the hero in the situation.
And it seems witness protection is the only way she can be with him.
But how long will she stay away from the cobbles?
