Coronation Street aired a brutal twist at the end of the first episode on Friday, as one character was left fighting for life.
Eileen Grimshaw met up with former flame Jan, who has been in hiding ever since it was revealed he was an undercover police informant.
He helped bring down the human trafficking ring that recently hit Weatherfield, while Eileen thought he was part of it.
On learning the truth, she met with Jan who begged her once more to run away with him as he remained in hiding.
Eileen couldn't though and decided to say her goodbyes to him for the final time unaware they were in danger.
Rachel, the salon owner who was part of the trafficking group, suddenly approached them holding a gun.
As Eileen and Jan stared at each other fondly, a shot rung out with Rachel aiming at both of them before pulling the trigger.
The episode ended as the shot was fired, while it didn't reveal who the victim was.
Viewers were left fearing for Eileen though, seeing her jolt as the bullet hit someone while Jan kept looking at her panicked.
He too moved suddenly when the gun was fired, making him just at risk of being the victim, with fans fearing he might be killed off.
Viewers have to wait until the second episode to find out what happens, and if either of them survive.
Although, those viewers who have seen spoilers for next week's episodes may already have their answer.
