Coronation Street's Colson Smith shares disappointing update as he plans to leave UK

Coronation Street's Colson Smith has shared a disappointing update with fans.

The soap star is renowned for his role as Craig Tinker on the long-running ITV show. Colson first appeared on the show when he was 11 and quickly became one of the Cobbles' most beloved characters.

The 24-year-old regularly keeps fans updated on Instagram with his exciting life away from the screen. Colson has embarked on a running journey, which he credits as the reason for his impressive 10 stone weight loss.

The actor is taking on the ultimate challenge as he is competing to run a marathon in Stockholm next month. Colson told Lorraine the unexpected reason about why he set his sights on the Swedish capital for the marathon.

He said: "I wanted to run a marathon and I saw Stockholm and thought what a better reason than to go to the ABBA museum." The marathon takes place on June 3 and Colson shared a disappointing update as he revealed he has suffered an injury setback.

The actor is also a Leeds United fan and took to the social media platform after they were defeated 3-1 by West Ham United. He said: "I'm injured and my football team are getting relegated. Happy Sunday."

Colson received strong support from fans when he announced his plans to leave the UK to run a marathon. Katie said: "Go on cols. So proud of you." Annie added: "Superstar."

Kim commented: "You are incredible. Such an inspiration." Carly posted: "Wow that will be a fabulous achievement good luck" The actor has previously told the ECHO about the moment he decided to completely overhaul his lifestyle.

He said: "I made changes before the lockdown but when it hit, all work stopped and it's the first time ever that Corrie has actually stopped. I was in a flat in Media City and I went back to live with my parents. It was the first time since I was 12 that I didn't have a job and didn't have anything to do so I kind of thought to myself 'what's important to me' and 'what do I want from life'.

"That's kind of where I decided to put myself forward and start this fitness journey."
