Cherylee unfortunately disappointed fans when she confirmed on Twitter that that they won't be seeing her on their television screens again just yet.

When one person asked: "When will we see you back on @itvcorrie?" she replied: "A little while yet I’m afraid..."

But another fan quickly responded: "At least you’re coming back!" to which she replied: "Oh yes!"

Cherylee joined the Coronation Street cast back in 2010.

She has the rare connective tissue disorder Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, as does her character Izzy.

Cherylee was diagnosed with the disorder at the age of 23, which affects the body's joints and leaves those diagnosed in chronic pain.

The soap star shared her Corrie update after tweeting information about a masterclass with Corrie legend Julie Hesmondhalgh, hosted by DANC the Disabled Artists Networking Community.

The community was launched by the drama group TripleC - The Creative Confidence Collective – started by Cherylee with the motto ‘To Never Leave Anyone Behind’ so that the next generation of budding actors don’t meet blocks to the arts.

The network connects artists with jobs and opportunities within the creative industries.

Cherylee also pioneered the hashtag #TakingTheDis to show how inaccessible the world is for the disabled.

The hashtag began after Cherylee posted on Twitter about missing her train in Manchester.

"So I missed my train as I had to run around the entire block - I couldn’t figure out if there was an alternative lift as both lifts broken on the bottom floor of Piccadilly," she said. "The world gave me three broken lifts on this journey!"
