Catherine Tyldesley is renovating her home and has proudly unveiled her young son's dark new bedroom.

The former Coronation Street star took to social media to showcase her little boy's new bedroom while also letting fans in on the decorating process.

Sharing a series of photos to the social media platform, Catherine was particularly pleased with son Alfie's wallpaper which creates the illusion of on-trend wood panelling, reports The Mirror.

The five-year-old's new room features the dark blue wallpaper with contrasting white furniture.

The stunning setup also features lots of space-inspired images and a bedding set printed with an astronaut suit, as well as some space-themed fairy lights wrapped around his bed.

Alongside a host of pictures, Catherine also shared her praise for the companies she used to complete the renovations.

She penned: "As you know we’ve been renovating our home.

"We adore Alfie’s new wallpaper from @ilovewallpaper.co.uk. So reasonable and super easy to apply!"

She added: "We love the panel effect - it’s something he’ll keep for a really long time as it’s so versatile! If I can do it- so can you!"

Catherine's latest collection of posts came shortly after the television star took to social media to reflect on how time has flown since welcoming her son in 2015.

The actress' young son, who she shares with husband Tom Pitfield, is set to turn six in just under two months.

In a touching Instagram message, she wrote about the "greatest gift of all".

"HOW is my boy nearly 6?!?!" she said.

"Looking through old pics and counting so many blessings. But Alfie ... the greatest gift of all. So proud to be your mummy, my little comedy genius."
