Coronation Street's Brooke Vincent is related to her Cobbles co star

Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent is well known for playing Sophie Webster on the ITV soap, but few fans realise she is actually related to one of her co-stars.

Brooke is currently on maternity leave, with her character Sophie's absence explained by her being away travelling in Cambodia, but Brooke's relative is still firmly on the soap in the middle of a dramatic storyline.

This week Brooke shared several snaps of her and Ellie Leach, who plays Faye Windass, together to celebrate Ellie's 20th birthday.

The pair are in fact cousins in real life away from the Cobbles and the pair are very close, with Ellie Godmother to Brooke's son Mexx.

Earlier this week Brooke shared photos of her and Ellie together at weddings, on holiday and at various events.

She captioned the photos: "To our Ellie, Happy Birthday, we love you so much, love you lots and lots."

Brooke also shared a video of Mexx singing happy birthday to his "Auntie Elle."

While some Corrie fans might not have realised the connection between the pair, Brooke and Ellie have often spoken about each other.

Before Brooke gave birth to baby Mexx Ellie shared a photo of them together and said: "Being able to watch you every step of the way through your pregnancy has been one of the most rewarding things in the world.

"It makes me realise what family means, and hopefully, one day, i can be as amazing as you are. I can’t wait to meet Baby B and see what chaos they will bring."

Brooke was quick to reply to her cousin and said: "Baby girl, I love you."

And on Lorraine earlier this year Ellie revealed how Brooke had asked her to be Mexx's godmother.

Ellie said: "I am Mexx's godmother, yeah Brooke asked me, she bought me a little bracelet, and on the inside it says 'Auntie Elle, will you be my godmother?'

"She gave it to me on Christmas Day last year... not the Christmas just gone, the Christmas before. Literally, I couldn't stop crying. I was like, 'Oh my God,' I couldn't believe it."

But Ellie said she hadn't been able to see Mexx much, as he was just five months old when the country was plunged into lockdown last March.

Lorraine said: "You won't have seen the little one because of this whole lockdown situation, it's very difficult for us all to see the people that we love."

Ellie said: "I know, I've hardly seen him, and he's grown up so much since the last time I've saw him.

"But hopefully we'll get over this soon and everything will be back to normal."

Brooke was also very supportive when Ellie joined Coronation Street.

Speaking about the advice her cousin gave to her Ellie said: "I knew Brooke was on it. It was weird because she was on the telly and sat in my living room at the same time.

“When I first got the part Brooke just said ‘If you need anything I am here’, and she knew the ropes so if I needed any advice I could go to her.”
